Oklahoma is past its former title of top incarcerator in the world, though progress moving down the national rankings has plateaued. The state reduced its prison population by 2.9% in 2023, according to data released Dec. 31 by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, with the number of male and female prisoners declining.

Doc vans do not have seatbelts. If you have a crash with no seatbelt on, will it hurt?!?! These guys have belly chains, shackles on their ankles, handcuffs, & a black box set between the handcuffs to keep it stable. I'm sure there were injuries as no one could brace for such an impact or contort their bodies in such ways to reduce pain.

Joseph Harp Correctional Center (JHCC) is an Oklahoma Department of Corrections state prison for male inmates located in Lexington, Cleveland County, Oklahoma. The medium-security facility opened in September 1978.[3] JHCC was named for Joseph Harp. who served as warden of the Oklahoma State Reformatory from 1949 to 1969.
